Sun Dog, Winnipeg, Manitoba January 6, 2025.
Well the Holidays Did Not Go to Plan.
One of my dearest loved ones had a life altering stroke, a few days before Christmas 2024.
To say life has become a little bit complicated, would be, as they say; an understatement.
As someone who feels the need to express myself creatively, and by writing, it has been an interesting experience as well. So much has happened that I wish I’d had the time to stop and process, and document.
It has been 16 days, I finally finished wrapping the last of the Christmas presents that got set to the wayside. I finally have a little bit of time to reflect.
Yesterday, just as I was headed upstairs to be with my people, this beautiful sun dog appeared. I have never stopped to capture a photo of one before, and something told me to just stop.
Stop and forget about being on autopilot and just take a moment for myself and nature. I’m glad that I did.
Today, will be another big day for our family as we prepare for the next chapter in our elders lives.
Moving forward, as its unavoidable.
Moving slowly, because changes are hard.
Holding each other up as we move; because that’s how we do things around here.
Here in old Manitoba. Here in her dog days of winter.
